That might also be the increased cost of the disks. It certainly has been an irritation to say the least. I know a lot of people on here hate them. Go to original post. It’s too bad that online firmware upgrades can be done on the drives, otherwise we would keep them up-to-date more often.

The ‘s we’ve got running are for general use – VMware and other infrastructure applications such as Exchange and File and Print. Well for me i dont trust the msa verry much to many negative experiences, i have more confidence in the eva mwa1500 that has proven for a decade that it is a good storage solution.
How can you have a default config in your FC switches?? Thanks for the responses!
Yes, the firmware levels on the switches are also quite important. Something I’ve been thinking about is whether we might be dealing with a fiber channel switch problem and “not” an MSAcs problem.
Please type your message and try again. I was in Kenya recently!
It’s too bad that online firmware upgrades can be done on the drives, otherwise we would keep them up-to-date more often. Has anyone found this to reduce the problem? This information can be extremely useful in diagnosing what is causing the particular problem. I’m sure there are many storage options at this point, and the forums are a good place to start looking for recommendations won’t be surprised if you get a lot of responses to your message. It does actually perform pretty well for the price, but an update has definitely been needed sooner than later.
What fiber channel switch and firmware are “you” using if you are currently having problems with the MSAcs? It certainly has been an irritation to say the least.
They indicated that zoning is “not” necessary. So far, one possible problem might be the fiber channel card and it negotiating to Arbitrary Loop direct connect instead of as an F-Port connected to a fiber channel switch.

I’ll be in touch after I hear the next steps toward a solution. That’s exactly the market that the MSA was intended for Css else have continuous problems with these? I have the same question Show 0 Likes 0. I know the MSA is relatively new, and I saw the post recently that 3.
What i have done is, limit the potential backup operations at a single time to a maximum of 1 and thus decreasing the potential SCSI Reservation errors, because i still believe that they are your issue as well, scsi reservation errors resulting in a locked up msa system. So, not too much contention at all.
I sent a message ms1a500 HP’s support to see what they have to say about this. We’re in the process of moving to a fully-redundant configuration with the 7. I suspect that’s what it was doing at the time.
Before you knock us implementing MSA1x00’s in small and medium enterprises, remember that this is Africa. Well, it’s been days since I’ve heard from HP, so I’m asking them for a status. This would at least eliminate the MSAcs, but not sure if it would provide stability and would also introduce a single point of failure which is where I’m at today anywaysand possibly be more expensive than an EVA solution.
