You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. I just got done doing the exact thing I just wrote and it worked for me. By unchecking and rechecking the device listing for the photo scanner, it then loads it in Ubuntu so both iscan and Vuescan can see it. Now iscan or Vuescan should see it when you open either one. The extensions iso actually compiles drivers into Ubuntu to extend function of both Virturalbox and Ubuntu. By installing the Epson iscan plug-in after the core files, the plug-in “configures” the linux system by updating the sane files.

Firstly Iscan does not recognise the negative slider on top of the scanner. Make sure that you download the right driver for your system, either the 32bit or 64bit.
